New Partners Expand Tektronix' Digital Design Product Support

Two New Tektronix Embedded Systems Tools Partners Announce New Products That Work With Tektronix Logic Analyzers

CHICAGO, March 2, 1999 - Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE: TEK) today announced the addition of two new partners - Cogent Computer Systems, Inc. and Orion Instruments - to its Embedded Systems Tools Partners Program, bringing the total number of partners to 19. In addition, several Embedded Tools Partners have announced products that support the TLA 700 logic analyzer in a variety of applications.

"The addition of these new partners continues to emphasize the open TLA 700 logic analyzer Windows 95 platform in which a wide range of partners' hardware and software development and debug tools can be used," said David Haworth, program manager of the Tektronix Embedded Systems Tools Partners Program. "Hardware and software designers appreciate the versatility and selection of tools available to develop and debug their embedded systems."

Tektronix Announces New Support from Embedded Partners

The Embedded Systems Tools Partners Program continues to increase the number of development and debug solutions for the TLA 700 Series logic analyzer, including additional support for new microprocessors and buses. These solutions range from providing software and analysis tools, to physical connections to a processor, to disassembly software that runs on the TLA 700 logic analyzer, and include:

  • Applied Microsystems Corporation announces (AMC) CodeTEST(r) software test and analysis tools now support the Tektronix TLA 700 logic analyzer P6434 High- Density Mictor Probe connections for the Motorola PowerPC 603e processor.
  • Crescent Heart Software announces R5000 and R7000 MIPS processors support for Tektronix TLA 700 logic analyzer.
  • Ironwood Electronics announces BGA probe adapters for the Motorola MPC850, MPC8260, PPC750 and PPC740 for the Tektronix TLA 700 logic analyzer P6434 High Density Mictor Probes.
  • New Wave PDG announces Motorola 56300 and Intel Strong ARM 110 processor support for Tektronix TLA 700 logic analyzer.

Cogent Computer Systems, Inc. is a microprocessor-development tool vendor specializing in the design and manufacture of high-end, custom system design products. Cogent has produced a variety of sophisticated microprocessor-based products. The Cogent Modular Architecture (CMA), introduced in 1992, now supports over 25 different microprocessor modules. The company also developed the CMA878 adapter for their PowerPC 603e CPU board, allowing easy probing when used with the Tektronix/AMC high-density Mictor probe connection.

Orion Instruments provides high-quality emulation systems for embedded systems engineers and programmers. Since 1980, Orion has successfully developed and marketed several moderately priced, high-performance in-circuit emulation systems. In 1995, Orion expanded its range of tools by partnering to offer complementary emulation systems from leading international vendors. Together with a range of compatible third-party development software, Orion now offers a large selection of embedded systems development tools.

Reduced Embedded Systems Development Time

The Embedded Systems Tools Partners Program reduces embedded systems development time by delivering a wide range of design and debug solutions to hardware and software designers. These design and debug tools operate with the TLA 700 Series logic analyzer. For example, these tools include computer development boards, application-specific software libraries, real-time operating systems, compilers, debuggers, emulators, logic analyzer processor/bus support packages, protocol analyzers, interconnection adapters and other products used in embedded systems design and debug.
